Metro Pacific and San Miguel are joining forces to make Batangas more accessible.
The two companies have agreed to design, build, and operate the Cavite-Batangas Expressway (CBEX) and Nasugbu-Bauan Expressway (NBEX) projects. However, the project isn't 100% sure yet as it is subject to the completion of certain conditions, which include the execution of procurement approvals.
From what I could gather on the internet, the highway (if it pushes through) will look something like this.
Red Line = CALAX
Blue Line = CBEX
Green Line = NBEX
Currently, Manilenos who wanted to go to, say, Punta Fuego would either pass through:
Option 1:
+ Skyway
+ SLEX
+ CALAX
+ Sta.Rosa-Tagaytay Road (this is where the traffic starts)
+ Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road (Aaaand traffic worsens here)
Option 2:
+Skyway
+NAIAEx
+Cavitex
+Governor's Drive (traffic)
+Ternate-Nasugbu Road (Kaybiang Tunnel, traffic)
With the project, you'll probably slash 45 minutes (to 2 hours on long holidays) of traffic since you'll skip the towns along Sta. Rosa/Tagaytay and Governor's Drive–similar to how SCTEX and TPLEX slashed the Tarlac/Pangasinan traffic when heading to Baguio. The new route will be:
+ Skyway
+ SLEX
+ CALAX
+ CBEX
Exciting times.
