Check Deposits at Home

BPI bankers, rejoice! If you have a non-corporate account with BPI, you'll be able to deposit checks from any bank without going to a BPI branch.

Here's how to do it.

Step 1

Open the BPI App and select any of your BPI accounts in the app.

Step 2

Select "Check Deposit" in the options for the account balance details.

Step 3

Fill out the amount and the check date on the app.

Step 4

Take a clear photo of the front of the check. I suggest putting the check on a dark surface so it stands out from its background. I also recommend using flash to prevent any shadows from showing.

You'll have to position the image's borders. To avoid your finger getting in the way of the magnification, you could click on the edges of the image (you don't have to click the circles).

IMPORTANT: If you make a mistake or want to retake a photo, DON'T CLICK THE "X" ON THE UPPER RIGHT. It will throw you back to Step 1. Instead, click "Done". It will take you to the next page and will ask you if you're okay with the photo.

Step 5

Write down the following at the back (see image below):

1. The bank you're depositing to (Bank of the Philippine Islands)

2. Date of check deposit

3. Your BPI Account Number

4. Your (Account Holder's) signature

Step 6

Take a clear photo of the back of the check. I suggest putting the check on a dark surface so it stands out from its background. I also recommend using flash to prevent any shadows from showing.

You'll have to position the image's borders. To avoid your finger getting in the way of the magnification, you could click on the edges of the image (you don't have to click the circles).

Step 7

Submit. Voila! You're done.

How do you know if the check has cleared?

If you go back to any of your accounts in the app and click "Check Deposit," it will show an overview.

In my case, I deposited a BPI check at 10AM and cleared a day after.

If you make a branch deposit, a BPI check deposited to a BPI account is real-time. But I'm not complaining. This new feature saves depositors at least an hour of lining up in the branch!

Thank you @BPI!
