RE BROKER = REALTOR?

Did you know that not all real estate brokers can call themselves "Realtors"?

See, the word "Realtor" was coined by the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

To call yourself a "Realtor" you have to be a member of NAR or its PH partner, the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders' Associations" (CREBA).

So what happens if you use the title "Realtor" and you aren't a member?

NAR/CREBA will write to you and invite you to join their organization or otherwise demand that you stop using the title. It had happened to someone I know.

...And that, my friends, is how I ended up with "Juan Patag Real Estate." I know it's a mouthful. Other brokers followed with the (full name) + Real Estate, so I guess it's fine. LOL.
