Last October, a Senate hearing discussed the possibility of flooding due to a 420-hectare DENR-approved reclamation project in Cavite/Manila Bay.
Specifically, Senator Villar was concerned that the reclamation project would lead to floods as high as eight meters (equivalently a three-story building) in Las Pinas. She claims that the Paranaque, Las Pinas, Zapote, and Molino Rivers are interconnected, and the reclamation project would prevent water from exiting to the sea.
These concerns for reclamation projects can be traced back to 2019 when the same Senator expressed her concerns. Back then, the DENR moved to deny approving reclamation projects.
How is this relevant?
I haven't seen or verified the claims for the severity of the flooding, but this is concerning because many villages are located along these rivers. For the prime villages, these include:
Portofino Heights
Verdana Homes (Daang Hari)
The Enclave
Ayala Southvale Primera
Actually, when I handled some listings in these villages, a common concern was flooding.
